Very good NY trip steak. Italian wedding soup was very good but could have been hotter. Service was excellent. I would do it again when in the area.

My husband and I stopped on our trip from Chicago to Allentown, PA, because we were both getting a little antsy after 9 hours in the car! We asked the bartender for her recommendation (as we often do) and she suggested the homemade gnocchi with peso alfredo sauce and topped with grilled veggies from their "Make Your Own Pasta" section. WOW, it was out of this world. My husband and I split a dish (the portion would have been huge for one). The gnocchi was delicious, definitely hand rolled and melt-in-your-mouth. I am not usually a huge fan of alfredo sauce, but I do love pesto - the combination of the two was nice. It was not too creamy and you could really taste the pesto. The grilled veggies, which I normally would not have added, were very flavorful and grilled to perfection!

My wife and I eat here quite often and we always have a good meal. Great atmosphere, great service and great food! Their Alfredo sauce is very good as is their homemade bread, I also enjoy the encrusted cod. In the summer months, they have a really nice outside seating area. The owner usually comes around to greet you and ask how things are. My wife has used their catering service a few times and it has always been great and very reasonably priced. All over a great place for a nice night out.

Honestly the best food in the city. If one must be in Dubois, the place to eat is Luigi's. The restaurant is well worth your money. The wait staff is very accommodating, and the food is excellent.

Came here while visiting family. Portions were huge and food was delicious. Family enjoyed veal parmesan. I had mushroom ravioli. Will definitely be back.

I would come to town and drive 3 plus hours to eat here. So good, everything is homemade, portions are excellent without being too much, great wine list. Excellent gem in PA.

Such a fabulous, unique place. Good food and service. I was so happy I didn't eat at a chain restaurant off the hwy. They were very accommodating to my daughter too!

A good place to eat and really crowded for the most part. However they do nice seasonal and holiday specials, like for Valentine's Day they do chocolate covered Strawberries as a special. The walls are lined with old photos and memorabilia from days gone past, everything has a very homey feel. The food is amazing and their desserts are to die for, however this place is pretty pricey, even for DuBois.

Stopped in for a bite at the bar. Jim was a very attentive bartender. Food was very good. Great atmosphere. Like all the picture and memorabilia.

We were in town for my son's baseball tournament and were looking for a good place to eat and not one of the regular chains. Let me say Luigi's wasn't good it was great!!! Even the teenagers loved it. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was very attentive. Try the Artichoke Dip, it was very good. The Veal Parmigana was very good. The red pasta sauce was very tasty. The Grilled Vegetable Salad was outstanding. The pizza was very good. A previous reviewer said this place was expensive. It was no more expensive than an Olive Garden and way better If you are in DuBois this place is a must!!!

The billboard on I-80 says boldly to: COME TASTE THE SAUCE How do you argue with that? So one day, on a New York to Ohio drive, we took the 15 minute detour from the highway and stopped in. When you first walk in, you see a hodge podge of autographed pictures and Tchotchkes which can mean the place is a legit community staple, or a Chili's knock-off. Thankfully, the kind waitstaff, descriptive menu and full tables pushed us towards believing it was the former. You can tell this place has been here a while as it seems to have slowly taken over half the block. Previous storefronts have been closed down and walls were demolished as Luigi's spread ever outward to fit more seats for hungry patrons. The twists and turns that lead you through individual dining rooms are more entertaining than annoying, and give the place a fun atmosphere. The menu features many traditional italian staples; this meat Francais, that meat Parmigiana, these vegetables Lasagne, as well as sandwiches, soups, etc. I've been fortunate to eat here twice (spoiler alert, the billboard worked again) and picked up ELISE'S TOUR OF ITALY which featured Lasagna with a meatball, Chicken Parmigiana, and cavatelli with alfredo sauce. It was delicious, and paired with a soup and salad, too much to eat. Thank god for leftovers. The second time I dove into one of their homemade pastas and sauce combinations, which seem to be what their famous for. Count em: 11 pastas and 11 sauces to mix and combine as you see fit. I chose the Linguine with Mia's Tomato Alfredo. I also grabbed a Peroni to drink. A delicious choice combo. The fresh pasta and sauce really makes a difference. My wife and I now try to stop here whenever we have a few free hours on the trips to see family at home and I would recommend it to anyone with a hungry belly hitting a long stretch of highway. And I know I overheard at least one other table mention that billboard on I-80. So it's good to know that it works.

Love Luigi's, try to go ever other week at least. Their sauce is my favorite of any Italian place I've been, especially the meat sauce. Their pasta is great, great atmosphere, great bread, and love the steaks too. Have yet to have a bad meal here, definitely the best place to eat in the area.

I don't know Du Bois, and I usually like to write any review in the context of the community/town/city that the location is in, which I think is a reasonable criteria. Du Bois is a real town, not just a bump along I-80 (no offense to any bumps along I-80). But I was with a traveling companion that pretty stalwartly wanted to visit Luigi's, and why not give the place some props. This place is serious in a lot of ways. Luigi's is heavy on the decor, and I think it works, juxtaposing old time stuff with family photos. They build the atmosphere I think that they want. The staff were friendly and great, and there's a great pic in the male bathroom by the door. You'll havta discover it for yourself. I got eggplant parmigiana, which if you've read any other Italian restaurant reviews of mine, is a staple for me. I mean, the dish is good. And it was here too, very creamy and not very dense. The sauce was good, though the way it was touted I expected a little more, and the menu was full of interesting looking options I'd be sure to try if I lived there. I also made a glaring mistake. I ordered a Jack & Ginger from the full bar before I saw the extensive cocktail menu.

When the kitchen door swings open, you may catch a glimpse of a tall rack loaded with loaves of freshly baked bread. The basket that arrives at your table is brimming with huge slices of warm, crusty heaven. So, what to order? Stuffed peppers. Try the butter & garlic chicken wings. There's Skip's tomato salad, which tastes like summer, just tomatoes, onions, oil, vinegar & spices. And pasta. The sauce is excellent, as it should be, this place has been run by one family for decades. This is what every authentic Italian joint wants to be, comfortable, warm, satisfying. The specials get adventurous sometimes, with mixed results, but their menu standards are very, very good. "Skip's combo" is one of my favorites. While you wait for your meal, walk around and read the folk sayings posted around the walls, hidden among the hundreds of family pictures of weddings and vacations. The owner will probably stop by your table and say hello. I've been here a dozen times over 6 years, and I walk out smiling every time, often with a bag of leftovers and a few slices of that outstanding bread.

Went here while I was out in PA visiting family -- my uncle loves Luigi's. And for good reason. They serve you a huge basket of yummy, crispy bread before you get your food -- ask about the dipping oil; the owner mixed it on the table and it was DELICIOUS. The chicken parm was tasty and satisfying. If you're ever on I-80 and craving food that isn't from a truck stop, take a detour into DuBois for Luigi's. Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff.

"Best place in Dubois (although thats not saying much)" says it best. Du Bois (my hometown) does not offer much selection in the way of restaurants, but this is one place that I've always heard raves about, so on a recent visit back home, I decided to try it out. I had a generous pasta dish that came with bread and salad. When I was at home last year for Christmas, we decided to double date with my sister to Luigi's. I ordered the eggplant parmesan again, and was pleased with it. My sis and her BF are vegetarians, and it's hard to find much vegetarian on the menu there... they both had the eggplant as well, but it is a good dish so who's to compain. Service was great. Our dinner was late and they were cleaning up as we were finishing up. The owner stopped by our table, asked how things were, told us to take our time, etc.

I think it's official- Luigi's is my favorite Italian restaurant in Western Pennsylvania. The food is exceptional, the service is good, and the decore is fun. My in-laws live in the Clarion area, so when we have a special occasion, we head to Luigi's. For instance, for Mothers Day, we go to Luigi's for their Mothers Day Buffet, which is filled with lasagna, pastas, different meats, and lots more for a reasonable price. Other times, it's just for a good meal, and I have never been disappointed. The inside of the restaurant has this great Italian theme, with white table cloths and cloth napkins, and the design is a mix of Italian paintings, old business signs from Dubois, and pictures of what I'm guessing are family or just very Italian looking people. They have a nice sit down bar with a good selection of alcohol and wine, and there are several dining rooms, including a back room that feels like your in a grotto. As for the food, they have this incredible bread that they bake in house. They slice it thick and bring it to you warm when you sit down. The crust is buttery and crisp, and the bread has a raw consistency like an old Italian grandmother's bread would have. It's addicting! I like to ask for olive oil, and then make a dip by mixing salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese- yum! Don't fill up on too much bread, because the rest of the menu is just as good. The homemade wedding soup is really good and fresh. It has meatballs, orzo, and big chunks of carrots, celery, and stewed tomatoes with a rich chicken broth- very rustic! The side salad is above average, but I like to go for the tomato salad. The tomatoes taste like they were just picked off the vine, no matter what time of year you get it, and they taste like good heirloom tomatoes. You can get fresh mozzarella or feta cheese, and the dressing is a nice olive oil and vinegar mix that isn't overpowering, and they give you lots of dressing so you can soak it p with that awesome bread I mentioned. I really like the chicken cacciatore, which has big chunks of chicken and vegetables. The lasagna comes in big, thick pieces, filled with spicy sausage and moist ricotta- it's out of this world! The meatballs are also really good, and come baseball sized. I tend to add a meatball to anything I get here since I can't pass them up. Also, their tomato sauce is really good, with a sweet northern Italy flavor that is great to soak up with their incredible bread. I've also tried some of their seafood selections, which are always fresh, and they gave great daily specials to try as well. Also, Luigi's has a takeout window out back, if u want to dine a home. Make sure you get plenty of bread to take home! Go check out this gem in Dubois- it's worth the side trip off of I-80, and I promise you won't be disappointed. Did I mention their bread is awesome?

We were driving from Ohio back to Rhode Island after Christmas and conditions deteriorated from light snow to full-on blizzard. We'd had enough of the white knuckle driving and pulled off into a little town called Dubois PA. After getting settled into the Holiday Inn off the highway, we began the search for food. We discovered Luigi's in the heart of downtown. What a spot! The streets were empty, the snow swirled around the windows, and the place was still packed. We ended up sitting at the bar for lack of a table. The interior decor is busy but interesting. Our bartender, Corey was the best. Companion had lobster ravioli, which was pronounced "quite good". Coming from seacoast New England, this is high praise indeed. I enjoyed a delicious plate of Chicken Maria (I think that's what the name was). Deeelicious. The prices were really reasonable, and the portions huge, and the locals were friendly. Good stuff. If I ever end up in Dubois again, I'll definitely return to Luigi's.

Six of us ate there on 10/1/10 and it was GREAT!! We met the owner and he's such a friendly, personable guy. Any time I'm near DuBois in the future (which isn't too often) Luigi's will be my choice for really enjoyable dining!!!!! Prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was really cool. It used to be an old Troutman's Dept. Store. Service and food were both GOOD!!

My parents and I stopped here for the first time tonight. We have often seen the billboards on I-80 but never had the chance to stop before. We would definitely recommend this place. The food was excellent and the restaurant itself has a very nice atmosphere.

I've never had a bad meal at Luigi's. I feel the prices are fair and the wait staff is always spot on. The booths by the bar are super uncomfortable though, avoid them.

Pretty darn good Italian place in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania...polenta is especially excellent...as is lasagne.....pizza is just decent, not great. Nice bar area and great friendly service.....interesting wall of photos featuring famous Italian-American criminals, the most despicable being Joe Paterno. Pretty sure Al Capone would have whacked a known pedophile. Joe Pa covered it up....Might want to take that coaches pic down, as it kind of ruins the appetite.

Did a lunch meeting here on Thursday. The owner & staff went well above & beyond to accommodate our group. They were attentive w/o being intrusive, friendly, and responsive to our needs. Then we broke for our meal and meeting went from productive to memorable. We were able to order off the menu and saw a variety of specials available. Homemade sauces & soups. Hot & strong coffee. I can't wait for next month!

Wow! We stopped here for the first time on our way across the state on I-80, and absolutely loved it. The Eggplant Parmesan was the best my wife and I have ever tasted. The meatballs were very good as well. Our son really enjoyed the margarita pizza. Delicious red sauce. This place is not to be missed! We will definitely come back if we pass this way again at mealtime.

This place is incredible. The service was great and the food was fresh and very flavorful. The owner came out and spoke with each table individually. The Ceasar Salad was great. The bread, made in-house, was wonderful. The owner compt'd us a specialty bread dip of Olive oil and marinera sauce, amazing. And the pepperoni and black olive pizza was the best ever. Plus the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Was in Dubois for a college visit. A friend recommended we stop here for lunch. So glad we did! The food was wonderful, staff very friendly. The owner, Eddie, even came around to the tables and chatted. Loved it! Will definitely be stopping in here every time we visit Dubois!

BJ chose Luigi's as the restaurant to host a family dinner. A couple phones calls and the menu was set. Even though we didn't have the exact time of our arrival, they were fine with that. Same story for the head count. When we arrived, I noticed the consistent theme for Du Bois restaurants. They seem to like their kitsch. Kitsch everywhere. We were led to a great spot in the restaurant, the sun room in the back. Loved this bright and cheery spot. Tables were set and ready with baskets of home made bread. Our buffet table had a huge bowl of fresh salad with two dressing choices. Loved their grilled vegetable medley. It consisted of zucchini, summer squash, red onions and mushrooms. We also had penne pasta with red sauce. And meatballs, loved the huge yummy meatballs. And Chicken Romano, so good. We also got sweet treats for dessert, they had small funfetti cupcakes, small pieces of peanut butter cake, German chocolate cake and brownies. Very nice place for a large group.

This is a wonderful restaurant. They have warm, home made bread daily. Their pasta and sauces are wonderful. The ambiance is inviting and I never feel rushed. The down sides would be that seating always seems crowded and it is quite pricey. But if you want to splurge and have a great Italian meal, this is the place to go.

DO NOT EAT HERE. I used to thoroughly enjoy this restaurant until a good friend who worked there told me about the disgusting practices that go on. According to them, any food left from banquets or buffets is bright back, reheated and fed to customers and health inspectors are regularly paid off to look the other way.

If you're in DuBois, you MUST stop for a meal at this place! Absolutely wonderful food, friendly staff, great service, reasonable prices. Bonus - Eddie might give you a back rub. :) The homemade Wedding Soup is delish. Lunch specials are amazing. I am definitely in love with Luigi's !

The hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. When you are driving past this hidden gem it should be shouted from all the people you pass, to stop by and create your own little Italy in your stomach with the mix of amazing food that tastes like I'm stealing from the Pope. Had a lasagna and a small pizza and they were made by gods. Living in jerseyyyyyy I'm used to eating pizzas all over the place. Some places give you paper thin slices, some will give you pizzas with enough sauces to feed a family of 8 for 5 days and some will just be no better than frozen ones. This place puts amazing food out, it tastes like everything that comes out of the kitchen was made by my Italian grandma at home, seriously I think they have like 6 of them in there cooking up a storm. If you drive by this town this place is a must stop, it's not always that you can find a quality food that makes you want to drive 5 hours back to it.

  • Rick B.

Great atmosphere food is fresh made. You can really taste the difference. Soup and pasta are amazing try the Italian wedding soup. Fish not best but too far from the ocean so understandable. We were traveling to Michigan and this a good stop off the I80. The bread is absolutely great so try it. Waitresses looked cute too which my wife didn't like too much. ;) Service is great.

I mean. So good. And quite a surprise. Road trip tip: it's right off of 80 & a perfect place to stop. If the weather is good & you, the kids or dogs need to stretch your legs? There is a playground local (Dubois City Memorial Park). We ordered take out & picnicked delicious Italian food. The kids got to play & the adults didn't have to eat junk. The Italian Wedding soup & house dressing for the garden salad was amazing. The salad (we got tomato salad) was worth the trip itself. The portions were huge and just all around good stuff. The sauce / pasta was solid. They were very accommodating to a big pick up order, clearly they are used to them. Even a pick up window behind the main store front entrance. We will be back!

This is one of my and my husbands all-time favorite restaurants. We live over an hour a way and still frequently make the trip because it is just such a great place! The food, atmosphere, and service are all wonderful and the prices are reasonable. The ambiance makes you feel like you've been transported to an old Italian restaurant in NYC (or Italy, for that matter!) where everybody is treated like family. The owner frequently comes around and greets guests and is always very friendly. I've never been disappointed by a single thing on the menu - everything is made in-house and is top notch. Some favorites include the Italian Sausage Stuffed Peppers appetizer, Cheesesteak Pizza, and absolutely anything with either their Jack Daniels sauce or Alfredo sauce! They also have quite an extensive gluten free menu that is really good, including the gluten free pizza. My bridal shower was held here as well since we love it so much and the staff did an amazing job of hosting the event. I've also had their catering at weddings and other events and it is excellent as well. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the world!

  • Megan G.

The service was great. As soon as we sat down to eat, we were greeted by the owner. He took the time to go around to all the tables and make conversation. He was very friendly and courteous. I ordered the chicken parm, and it was delicious. My date ordered the "Tour of Italy". I was in awe of the amount of food I had received. It was enough to feed me for days, and for a reasonable price. The food was delicious and the service was great. We plan on going back very soon to try some more things on the menu!

Thank you Yelp for recommending this place while we were on our way from Cleveland to Connecticut. Luigi's is definitely worth the hype!

  • Kathryn G.

We were really impressed with the food, service, and ambiance. Luigi's is right off i-80, on a 3-4 hour stretch of the highway with few good food options. We will definitely be stopping here again on our journeys from NJ to Chicago.

  • Judy B.

We were traveling between Long Island and Cleveland and looking for lunch. Luigi's not only filled our bellies, it also provided a relaxing stop off I-80. The place is huge but still cozy with two dining rooms plus a sunny garden "patio" room, all filled with scores of family photos on the walls. We were seated in the patio room which also features a small waterfall. Service was attentive even though lots of diners were coming and going. The food was the best and reminded us of Italian restaurants from the old neighborhood, but there were also gluten free and whole wheat pasta choices, as well as plenty of vegan options. The best of old and new! They offer a mix and match pasta option, allowing you to choose a pasta, a sauce and an add-on (chicken, mussels, grilled veggies, shrimp, meatballs and more). I had the Tuscan veggie pasta (actually shredded zucchini and other veggies) with pesto and a hearty portion of mussels (13), while my husband had eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti and added a meatball. Both dishes came with salads and a ginormous basket of crusty bread. The whole bill came to about $24. Wish this place was closer to home!

  • Christie B.

Come for the food, stay for the lingering back rubs! Luigi's is considered a "nice" restaurant for a town full of fast food, and for the most part, it lives up to that standard. I've never been disappointed by the food, the servings are generous, and they are good about refilling the bread basket. The servers are attentive, the bathrooms are clean, and the noise level is a low roar, which is pretty good for such a small space. The one star detraction comes from the unsolicited back rubs from the owner. If you are not into being touched, try to sit with your back to a wall because if the owner is in the building, he will come over and touch you. I don't mean that he does the "hey buddy" type of tap on the shoulder - I mean that he full-on works out that knot in your shoulder while asking you how you like the ravioli. Maybe it's Luigi's way of saying that when you're here, you're family. A very touchy family with no personal boundaries. If you aren't into it, though, you can just do as I do and yell "stranger danger!" when the owner comes a'slinkin' over. That does the trick, and you can enjoy the Skip's tomato salad (a fan favorite) in peace.

  • Crystal G.

Staying in the area a few months for my husbands job, found this restaurant one day for lunch...absolutely delicious!! Coming from an Italian family, this helps to ease some of my home sicknesss for nonnie's cooking! Everything I've tried from here is great! And skip's tomato salad (with fresh mozzarella) is a perfect treat! YUMM!

So glad we stopped here on our way back home to philly.. Loved this whole experience! Food + service + environment.. Loved all of it.. Got a tour of the place as soon as we walked in by the owner Eddie.. Such a great guy! Very personable and complimented the restaurant's overall ambiance!

  • Saumon O.

Stopped here on our way to the Midwest, great food and service. Eddie, co-founder of the restaurant, stopped by and welcomed each party personally and made us feel like valued customers. Jon, our waiter was also very quick and professional. I got the hot sausage sandwich - highly recommended. Thank you for a great experience in Du Bois, if we're ever back in the area will stop in. Having traveled to Italy, I can say the hospitality is toe to toe with genuine Italian restaurants. Grazie Mille!

We drive east from Chicago every summer and dinner at Luigi's is a fond tradition. It gets harder and harder to find independently owned restaurants where providing good home cooked food is the standard. Luigi's does this and more. It has character and value.

We stopped here while passing through on I-80. Pasta was pretty bad but the bathroom was good. My son appreciated the cleanliness of the toilet as he was throwing up his dinner.

Just passing by, pizza is a different style, delicious. The crust is slightly undercooked, which lets it soak the flavor. Gnocci is consistent and al dente!

On our way back to Michigan from New Jersey. Read the reviews and decided to try it. A couple of miles off I-80 but well worth the short detour. Excellent Italian meal; great bread; pasta prepared perfectly. Very good service even being quite busy. Took about 1 hour total for the meal. Well worth it. We will stop again on our trips to NJ.

Tried the special last evening which was disgusting! The asparagus chicken Fettuccine had clumps in the sauce which the "manager " said was the result of the chef thickening the sauce but not thoroughly disolving. Truly sickening!

Second time here on the road between NY and OH. Didn't even remember having been here in 2010. However, it wasn't because the food was not good. It is! I had the Luigi's Famous Lasagna while my wife had the Spaghetti and Meatballs. I finished mine and used the bread to clean my plate. My wife could only eat half and had the rest for lunch the next day. Much better than a quick stop at a rest stop! Well worth the extra few miles from the highway. Stop here, you won't be disappointed.

This is 3.5 to 4 stars. Family owned place about 6 minutes south of the I-80 exit provides a nice atmosphere, friendly service, and good food. They have gluten free pasta and a fair number of choices at reasonable prices. Portions are fair but are not huge. The eggplant parm, mushroom ravioli, and the bread were great. If we were in the DuBois area we would return.

Driving from Ohio to NY, decided to stop overnight in DuBois, PA. Couldn't decide between the safe option of a chain restaurant or try some local flavor at Luigi's. So glad we took the chance. We ordered the Eggplant Parm, a cheese pizza, and the kid's penne with marinara, plus the warm dipping oil to go with the bread. Everything was A+! The kid, who barely at all week at grandma's, gorged herself on bread, pasta, and then started digging into mom's pizza before tiring out. Eggplant Parm was great and portions were HUGE! Prices were reasonable and service was fantastic. Luigi's will definitely be a must stop on our frequent travel along I-80.

This was an excellent restaurant experience for the weary traveler . We started with fresh bread and the warmed herb and garlic olive oil. The house salad set the precedent with the Sun Dried Tomato vinaigrette. Grilled salmon was excellent the shrimp pompadour was very good . Next time to Pennsylvania we will definitely stop again.

We went here on a Thursday evening for dinner. It was my second time here. The restaurant walls are FILLED with photos of family, local celebrities, and so on. It was actually kinda nice and made us feel like this was a family place (which it is). There are several rooms for seating, and all are OK. I had the chicken Maria. (see photo) Breaded chicken, ham, cheese, topped with alfredo sauce, and a side dish of pasta with red sauce. The chicken was just OK, nothing special. Everything else was OK. Portion size was acceptable but certainly not generous. My wife had a build-your-own pasta dish and chose angel hair pasta, red sauce, meatball, and sausage. (see photo) Meatball was good, as was the sauce, but the sausage was tough and dry. Service was good and waitstaff friendly. Overall a nice experience and a nice meal in a setting that is comfortable, fun, and conducive to conversation. Set your expectations accordingly and you'll enjoy it.

Went there on a business dinner, I was pleased with the food, wine and service. I got a glass of Chianti with the veal parmesan. It was very good. My colleague was also pleased with the lasagna. The portions are huge, I couldn't finish my plate.

Passed by the restaurant and sounded good, then I seen the great reviews and had to come. Food was absolutely delicious and had great service as well. Italian wedding soup was the best!! The bread was humongous slices of goodness. The pasta was homemade and delicious. Highly recommend to all.

Can't say enough about this place. Service and food were exquisite. Lobster ravioli was amazing. Everything on the menu is made with such detail. The owner Ed "Teti" isn't shy to come out and greet you personally to ensure you are being well spoiled. A must stop here for lunch or dinner while in this area. Ask for Mike fantastic waiter.

We make the 45 minute drive to Luigi's quite often. The food is the best you'll ever find. What's good food without good service? Well, they have that too. Every meal here has been Great!!

Was actually busy at 10pm on a Sat night. Great food! Soups were delicious, as was my spag & meatballs (two is enough) and my wife's eggplant parm. Exceptional service and a neat atmosphere!

I really like this place. Being from Manhattan this place is sure a pleaser. Good bar staff and waitress was very prompt and courteous. My only Issue is what's with the headsets and Mics all the staff wears. I understand why... But conceal them with the current technology out on the market. It looks like the old headsets for cell phones that came out 10 years ago! Ready for take off. Com'on Luigi's change it up. It takes away from the experience.

Definitely a solid 4 stars (and rising), whether in the small downtown of DuBois or anywhere else. I've eaten here twice in past couple of months and had wonderful meals both times. This is not entirely surprising, especially after dining at it's sibling's original location in Clymer, PA (a favorite spot by Steelers' Troy Polamalu), when I lived near there years ago. During my fist visit, I took the bartender's suggestion and ordered the Chicken Salvatore, a tasty, seasoned boneless chicken breast topped with sun-dried tomatoes and a side of Cavatelli pasta. It was so good, I almost ordered it again the second time I dined here, but instead leaned toward the more pasta heavy, Skip's Combo, which included Manicotti, stuffed shells Cavatelli and a meatball. From what I recall, it was also very delicious, but I ate everything so quickly it's hard to say. Between the front bar area and the restaurant, there is plenty of seating for the bigger evening and weekend crowds. The walls are covered with random photographs, including the typical smiling owners posing with celebrity diners. It may be a little overboard and somewhat cheesy, but hey, if it's good enough Italian food for Giada De Laurentiis, then you should probably stop by and try it as well. That is, if you're even in this neck of the woods.

It's not a bad place in Du Bois. I had a lunch special - lasagna. It was tasty but the portion was tiny. I guess that is what you should expect for $6. The bread was cold and then the waited suggested I take it to go, which surprised me a lot but he never packed it anyway. That was kind of weird.

This was by far the worst Italian food I have ever had. I ordered some sort of fish (maybe it was a special? I don't remember the specifics) and it was completely over done. The sauce on the pasta looked like Chef Boyardee had probably whipped it up and it came out of a jar. My husband had the meat ravioli, and those too were likely frozen Chef Boyardee quality raviolis. I've had several people tell me I need to go back and "try something more traditional than seafood; seafood isn't Italian" with which I respond with "Have you ever seen a map of Italy, it's surrounded by one of the richest fishing seas in the world on THREE SIDES. If an Italian restaurant can't cook either ravioli or fish, they are in big trouble. The icing on the cake was the owner who came around table to table and uncomfortably put his arm around my husband as we were trying to enjoy our meal. It was extremely awkward. Many people have commented on the uniqueness of the interior design - it was just that, unique.....and extremely tacky. You don't need to put every artifact you've ever collected on your restaurant wall to show us you have rich heritage. We get it. Needless to say, we've not been back.

We came in during vacation and the owner came up to us and let us know activities in the areas that we could do as a family. While talking to us one of the employees came up and told us our pizza had broken slightly and the owner have us a discount. The pizza was also amazing and the slight break didn't even matter. I highly recommend this place because it has great service, great atmosphere, and delicious food.

My first time dining at Luigis. It was very busy. We had drinks at the bar while waiting to be seated. When we were sat, we had our orders taken promptly. While waiting for our salads, the owner stopped by our table. He had been bussing tables. He sat his bus pan down and entertained us with a joke. Before I even tried the food, I could see why it was so busy. He helped his employees out by getting hands dirty and bussing tables, and took the time to stop and tell us girls a joke. My first choice of the nights special was sold out, so I opted for the lobster stuffed ravioli. It was amazing! I had it a few weeks earlier at a different restaurant and theirs couldn't hold a candle to Luigis! Large chunks of lobster and an amazing sauce! It was a great way to end a great day with friends. I will definitely be back!

One word.. "AWESOME" everything is house made including bread and salad dressing!! Fresh veggies and best of all.. "Choose your own pasta" was amazin!! For the price and quality of the food hands down one of the best!!! Two thumbs up!! Def recommended for anyone who is near route 80!!! 11/29/2013 - I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I went there again and couldn't have been more happier!! I was thinking I love their house dressings!! Love their lasagna!!! THEIR WARM BREAD IS GREAT TOO!!! I wished they had one closer to either Chicago or NYC... I would go there more often! They could make a killing since I haven't been to any great ITALIAN Places for these kind of prices!!! THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!! HANDS DOWN!!!

We went to Luigi's because my husband grew up in this area and had never been. I'd noticed their semi-prolific billboards about town over the past few years that I've been visiting DuBois and had been curious to try it out. We stopped in for lunch. Our waitress was new and a little slow in regards to checking in on our table, but the food and the atmosphere were both very good. I had a salad and the Italian wedding soup. Both were tasty. I especially liked the soup as it had plenty of meatballs and was perfect in regards to salt (I'm really sensitive to things being overly salty and this soup was not at all). My husband had the lunch portion of eggplant parm with a side of spaghetti. We both really liked the sauce and the eggplant parm was well done. We thought he portion was a little small, but for lunch it was probably reasonable. The other fun thing about the place is that there are photos all over the walls -- probably hundreds of them. A lot of them seem to be photos of the owner and his family, but they cover a wide span of time making them pretty interesting to consider.. Fun too look at while you're waiting. We'll be back for dinner!

We were really impressed with the food, service, and ambiance. Luigi's is right off i-80, on a 3-4 hour stretch of the highway with few good food options. We will definitely be stopping here again on our journeys from NJ to Chicago.

I mean.

YUMM!

Wow! We stopped here for the first time on our way across the state on I-80, and absolutely loved it. The Eggplant Parmesan was the best my wife and I have ever tasted.

On our way back to Michigan from New Jersey. Read the reviews and decided to try it. A couple of miles off I-80 but well worth the short detour.

Very happy with the food, wine, and service. The ambiance is excellent and our order came promptly.

Stopped in for a bite at the bar. Jim was a very attentive bartender. Food was very good. Great atmosphere. Like all the picture and memorabilia.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
